Genesis 13:5-15:21 / Matthew 5:27-48 / Psalm 6 / Proverbs 1:29-33
Genesis 14:20 … blessed be God Most High, who has defeated your enemies for you.
I love that!! Sometimes we think we must fight for ourselves, but God makes it clear all throughout scripture that He is our defender, and that we are to stand still and see His rescue. His promises are solid, and we can depend upon them, just like Abram learned.
Speaking of Abram, God told Abram twice that he would give him many descendants; once when he compared those descendants in number “like the dust of the earth”, and the second time to the stars when He said, “Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have!”
It wasn’t until God’s second declaration that Abram was said to “believe God”.
Sometimes we need to hear God’s promises multiple times before faith is birthed!
What has God promised you that you have not yet seen?
What has God promised you that you have experienced?
It’s important to keep both in mind, because remembering the victories helps us stand firm as we wait for the promises!
