Intimacy: Preparing to Pray

Matthew 6:9-14

Last week I mentioned that you could write a prayer based on the model from Matthew 6:9-14.  I am going to keep today’s post very simple by including my example of using scripture as prayer. Mine was based on the New Living Translation. Feel free to pray through this as you read. I know God is listening!

“Good morning, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I want to take time to recognize Your greatness; Your majesty; and Your supreme rule. You are Lord and King and I personally honor You both in my life and on the earth as Your representative.

Lord, would you bring to the earth everything You have already accomplished in heaven? I’m asking that Your great love would be poured out here on earth as you have poured out Your love in Heaven. You have provided for us all things and they are sealed and final in heaven. Please let all Your perfection be manifested in my life and in the lives of those around me, as well as in the lives of those across the earth.

I’m thankful that You have and always will provide all we need every day. We don’t lack for anything as Your beloved children. Not only do we have enough for ourselves, but we have enough to share with others.

Speaking of others, please forgive us for the sins we’ve committed today and help us to forgive others who have hurt or offended us. As an extra blessing, would you heal the hurt and offense in those because we hurt others out of our own pain?

Lord, evil is all around us and louder than ever. Would you free us from the influence and traps that the enemy lays for us? Please give us wisdom and discernment to walk only in Your ways, to think only Your thoughts, and to speak only Your words.

Lord, I love you above all others and I’m thankful I belong to You. Thank you for all You’ve done in my life as well as for all You have planned. Amen.

If you missed our prayer call on Tuesday, be on the lookout for another opportunity to connect in February. God bless you and your family as we end the first month of 2022!
