1 Samuel 10-11 / John 6:43-71 / Psalm 107 / Proverbs 15:1-3
Have you ever felt that everyone was angry with you, or that trouble followed you everywhere you went? When you felt that way, did you wonder what you could do to get away from what was happening? I’ve definitely felt that way, and I’m the first to admit I would rather run as fast as I can to get away from the craziness!
Psalm 107 speaks about the LORD rescuing His people from their enemies, or when they are in trouble of any kind. I especially love verses 1 and 2 that says, “Let everyone give all their praise and thanks to the Lord! Here’s why—he’s better than anyone could ever imagine. Yes, he’s always loving and kind, and his faithful love never ends. So, go ahead—let everyone know it! Tell the world how he broke through and delivered you from the power of darkness and has gathered us together from all over the world. He has set us free to be his very own!” (The Passion Translation)
When we’re in trouble, He sees it – He knows, and it breaks His heart. He always wants to help us because he can’t stand to see us suffer. Many times, He begins to work behind the scenes to bring help, but He also loves it when we talk to Him by praying and telling Him what we need.
Matthew 6:8 says, “When you pray, there is no need to repeat empty phrases, praying like [some] do, for they expect God to hear them because of their many words. 8 There is no need to imitate them, since your Father already knows what you need before you ask him.”
See, there’s the proof that He already knows even before we pray. Have you ever had God answer a prayer that you didn’t have a chance to pray? Or maybe you just had a thought or a wish in your heart and the next thing you know, the answer comes! Yep, that was God! Amazing. He really does love us so much.
So, if you’re in trouble, sad, angry, in need – whatever it is – the first thing to do is pray and ask for God’s help. Then wait. He’ll answer one way or another. Another great prayer would be that He doesn’t let you miss the answer, because it will probably come in a way you don’t expect. Who says being a Jesus follower is boring!
