Genesis 31:17-32:12 / Matthew 10:24-11:6 / Psalm 13 / Proverbs 3:16-18
In Genesis 32:10 Jacob said to God, “I am not worthy of all the unfailing love and faithfulness you have shown to me, your servant.”
Matthew 10:29-31 “What is the price of two sparrows – one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.”
Psalm 13: 5-6 “But I trust in Your unfailing love. I will rejoice because you have rescued me. I will sing to the LORD because He is good to me.
These are the verses that spoke to my heart today. Yes, we’re grieving, but scripture tells us that those who belong to Jesus don’t grieve as the world does because we have hope. So, while we grieve, we also trust. While our hearts are broken, we know God is working to mend them.
And the truth is God’s unfailing love has been abundant all my life! Yes, there are hard things, and everyone experiences the hard. But most things in my life have been sweet and full and blessed. I have an amazing, close-knit family – as a matter of fact, as I type this, we’re all bunked up together to support Abigail and each other and we’ll do that as long as needed because that’s what we do!
No matter the sorrow, I trust His love that doesn’t fail. I trust that He sees each of our hurting hearts and it makes Him sad with us.
But there is another side to our sorrow, and that is the joy of knowing that Bradley’s suffering has ended and that he is in Heaven. Parallel to that is the fact that we will walk through this time and come to the other side where we’ll remember that God is always good.
I’m thankful for His unfailing love.
