Isaiah 8-9 / 2 Corinthians 12:1-10 / Psalm 55 / Proverbs 23:4-5
Time travel and inter-dimensional travel are topics explored in science fiction novels and movies. However, have you ever considered that these two things are real? Now, before you stop reading, thinking I’m crazy, allow me to prove to you that fact and fiction may have a relative thread. I know it seems far-fetched, but let’s see what scripture says about these types of things.
2 Corinthians 12:2-4 tells us this, “I was caught up to the third heaven fourteen years ago. Whether I was in my body or out of my body, I don’t know—only God knows. Yes, only God knows whether I was in my body or outside my body. But I do know that I was caught up to paradise and heard things so astounding that they cannot be expressed in words, things no human is allowed to tell.”
Do you still think I’m crazy? If you believe that the Bible is true and is the Holy Spirit inspired Word of God, then the account above is your first piece of proof of time and inter-dimensional travel. There are other examples in scripture, and I’ll include those for you in a minute.
I am a huge science fiction fan. Before I began considering that these concepts may have a basis in fact, I said that I believed my love of science fiction was because the things of heaven were probably more fantastic and unimaginable than anything we’ve ever considered. There is something about the genre of science fiction that fascinates me and causes me to believe that there is much more in the other realms than our minds can conceive.
Have I ever traveled through time? No. Have I ever been to Heaven? No. But I would certainly love to do both! I have a friend who has traveled through time as he traveled to another state. What should have been a multi-hour trip, took just a couple of hours. He had no certain awareness that he had traveled through time, but he just knew that his trip was miraculously cut way down.
Are you ready for more proof? Genesis 5:23-24 NLT Enoch lived 365 years, walking in close fellowship with God. Then one day he disappeared, because God took him.
Hebrews 11:5 NLT It was by faith that Enoch was taken up to heaven without dying— “he disappeared, because God took him.” For before he was taken up, he was known as a person who pleased God.
Acts 8:39 NLT When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away. The eunuch never saw him again but went on his way rejoicing.
Revelation 1:10-11 NLT It was the Lord’s Day, and I was worshiping in the Spirit. Suddenly, I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet blast. It said, “Write in a book everything you see, and send it to the seven churches in the cities of Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.”
You would need to read the entire book of Revelation to understand all that John saw and experienced. There was an interaction between John in the earthly realm and the things of Heaven in another realm. Whether John traveled to Heaven or just saw into Heaven I don’t know, but there was a definite connection between the two realms.
Feel free to do more research and to ask God His thoughts on this topic. I believe we are seeing these interactions because God wants us to know we are heavenly beings having an earthly experience. We have access to the Spirit realm through the indwelling of Holy Spirit in us. We have an inheritance in the supernatural and we are meant to bring that supernatural, heavenly experience into earth.
