Read the Bible in One Year: Day 26 – Fight for the Promise

Exodus 2:11-3:22 / Matthew 17:10-27 / Psalm 22:1-18 / Proverbs 5:7-14

The story in Genesis and Exodus is already many hundreds of years long.  We’ve gone from the excitement of Abram being called by God to go to a land God promised to give him to several generations later and the people of God still do not possess what God promised.  I’d also say God’s people living in Goshen in Egypt have likely forgotten God’s promise of a “land flowing with milk and honey.”

Do you sometimes feel it’s taking way too long to see the promise of God?  Well, you’re in good company!  And it’s not over yet!  Pharaoh will say no, then finally relent, then chase God’s people through the desert.  The people will wander for 40 years…  But let’s save all that for another day.

Today I want to talk about the fact that the land of promise is filled with nations of giants.  God has not yet told the people that they’ll have to fight to acquire what God has promised.  Maybe if He had told them about the fight upfront, they would have been terrified, so He gives them that information when the time comes to fight.

What has God promised you?  Have you been through the testing yet?  Have you been through the process of removing the giants so you can have what God promised?

I don’t know where you are in your story but be assured God has not forgotten what He said.  He still intends to bless you, but you may have to fight!  And we certainly don’t fight the way the world does.  We don’t grab our guns, put up our fists, etc.  No, we worship, and we pray.  And these “weapons of our warfare” are mightier than any earthly weapon, gaining for us eternal treasure.

So, don’t give up and don’t give in; keep fighting.  Stand strong like Ephesians 6:10 says!  And when you feel weary, find a friend who will remind you of the good things God has for you.

Today, I will be that friend!  God has good things ahead for you and your family!

I love you and I pray for your great success…

  1. Reminds me to be sober minded, not complacent or lazy but proactive in my faith. I need to be reminded that rest and contentment in Him is not passive or asleep in the light. Gotta be on guard and suited up!
