Genesis 5-7 / Matthew 3:7-4:11 / Psalm 3 / Proverbs 1:10-19
Gen 5:22 After the birth of Methuselah, Enoch lived in close fellowship with God for another 300 years… Enoch lived 365 years, walking in close fellowship with God. Then one day he disappeared, because God took him.
Gen 6:9 Noah was a righteous man… he walked in close fellowship with God.
Matthew 3:8 Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God.
These are the thoughts that caught my attention as I read through today’s scriptures. Did you notice that both Enoch and Noah were said to have “walked in close fellowship with God”?
How do we know they did? What proof did God have of this?
Matthew 3:8 may offer a clue to help answer those questions. The proof of our walking in close fellowship with God is the way we live.
I love to break down words and scripture and sometimes I’ll do that using the Strong’s Online Concordance at Bible Study Tools website. So, let’s do that and see if we are offered a little more insight into this close fellowship with God because I want to walk that way myself!
Evidently walked closely with God lines right up with the proof mentioned in Matthew 3, because when I looked up the word “walked” in the concordance, I found one meaning “manner of life” that reinforced that it does matter HOW we walk.
This reminds me of another scripture in Matthew 20:25-28 and I like this passage as read in The Passion Translation.
“… Kings and those with great authority in this world rule oppressively over their subjects, like tyrants. 26 But this is not your calling. You will lead by a completely different model. The greatest one among you will live as the one who is called to serve others, 27 because the greatest honor and authority is reserved for the one with the heart of a servant. 28 For even the Son of Man did not come expecting to be served by everyone, but to serve everyone, and to give his life in exchange for the salvation of many.”
This is how we should “walk” through this earth and in our lives; to serve others.
And this is the heart of Still the Mom; to serve others and champion them to become all God has called them to be!
Are you walking in such a way as to serve others? It’s a great question, and an even greater life-calling.
Please consider today who you might serve.
I have failed miserably in showing others the way, Maria I commend you in your way of helping others see what they need to do.
There is always an opportunity for growth! I’m still growing and learning along with you 💜
