Read the Bible in One Year: Day 43 – We will see Him as He truly is

Exodus 34:1-35:9 / Matthew 27:15-31 / Psalm 33:12-22 / Proverbs 9:1-6

As a follower and lover of Jesus Christ these past 53 years, one of my main goals has been to know Him; to understand His character, nature, and ways.  I can’t pretend to fully understand God.  There is a verse in 1 John 3:2 that is so exciting…

Beloved, we are God’s children right now; however, it is not yet apparent what we will become. But we do know that when itis finally made visible, we will be just like him, for we will see him as he truly is.

Do you see that end phrase?  We will see Him as He truly is.  We will fully know God even as we are fully known by Him now.  What an exciting day that will be!!

But for now, we see only in part and we understand only as far as our humanity can comprehend what Holy Spirit is revealing to us about God.  That’s why I love Exodus 34:6-7 because it is revealing God’s nature.

“The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children’s children, to the third and the fourth generation.”

Remember we talked yesterday about God being both mercy and justice.  He is both loving and must bring judgment.  We all love to remember his mercy and love, but it is so hard to fathom his justice and judgment.  However, mercy and love would have no meaning when not balanced with justice and judgment.

There are the righteous and the unrighteous, and in some ways, both receive from God’s grace – remember the common grace spoken of a few days ago?  However, there comes a time when we must be found in Christ to remain in His love and mercy.

May you be found in Christ today!
