Exodus 35:10-36:38 / Matthew 27:32-66 / Psalm 34:1-19 / Proverbs 9:7-8
I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul will make its boast in the Lord; the humble will hear it and rejoice. Exalt the Lord with me, and let’s exalt His name together.
Today’s reading from Psalm 34 is so empowering and encouraging! When I read the first 3 verses, I see a pattern of I, they, we: here’s what I mean by that.
I must choose to bless (kneel, worship) the Lord at every moment in my life. I do this for myself and to honor my Savior.
When I choose to bless the Lord, others will hear my praise, and it will give them courage! As I see that they are also encouraged, I will invite them to bless the Lord with me, and now we have a gathering of blessing the Lord.
Our faith and courage are first for us, then for others. I don’t live my life in a vacuum; my life is laid out for all to see. This reminds me of a scripture in 2 Corinthians 3:1-3 that talks about our lives being a letter that all people may read. If that’s true, what are others “reading” in your life?
As usual, this is not a call for perfection, but it is an exhortation for submission to the purpose and will of Jesus Christ, both for your sake and the sake of those watching – and they are watching.
I learned this early on and it both terrified me and made me want to live my life in a way to bless God and others.
Bless the Lord today, and encourage others to do the same, then we’ll all be stronger!
