Exodus 37-38 / Matthew 28 / Psalm 34:11-22 / Proverbs 9:9-10
They were very frightened but also filled with great joy…
Something about this statement grabbed my attention as I read today’s passage in Matthew. Mary Magdalene and “the other Mary” had arrived at Jesus’s tomb just in time for an earthquake, an angel, and a message.
Can you imagine having been there to see this history-altering event?!
This is the 2nd earthquake within a 3 day span; one at Jesus’s death and now one at His resurrection. I wonder how many put two and two together and figured out a huge event had occurred?
And how many of you have seen an angel? I have not, but I know people who have and I’ve heard they are very imposing. So, it makes sense the women would have been frightened. I’m sure they were trying to sort through what they were hearing, feeling and seeing.
Then the message came, and it was the message that brought clarity to the shaking and the supernatural appearance of the angel. And it is the Word of God that brings revelation and understanding to every situation in our lives.
Today in our church gathering we talked a little about a verse, Hebrews 4:12 – For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Some think the Bible is not relevant in our lives, but I disagree because the above verse proves that God’s Word brings us discernment for every situation.
So, the next time you sense a shaking, or you see something that doesn’t make sense, look to the Bible for clarity and understanding. And if you can’t find what you’re looking for, send me an email at www.stillthemom.com and I’ll do my best to walk with you to find answers.
