Read the Bible in One Year: Day 61 – Jesus, Our Mighty Warrior

Leviticus 25:47-27:13 / Mark 10:32-52 / Psalm 45 / Proverbs 10:22

The Church has her eyes and heart divided into many spaces during this time.  She is looking all around her for a savior – one who will deliver her from all her fears.  It was interesting to note in Mark that the disciples who were walking closely with Jesus were in “awe”, while those who were “following behind” were “overwhelmed with fear”.

Our Father has graciously allowed us free will.  We are free to look at, taste, touch, smell and hear whatever we choose.  However, this is both a blessing and a curse.  We must be discerning of what we partake.  Even when Jesus came into public view, many thought He was coming to free them from Roman rule.  They didn’t understand that He came to free them from the rule of sin, which is of more widespread affect.

Many of us look at the near, the small picture, our own little world.  But God is looking at the big picture, at eternity.  I’m not saying we should never see the trees, but we must not neglect the forest.  The place upon which our eyes focus matters.

I’m sure you can see where this is going!  We must have eyes for only One.  That’s why I love Psalm 45 that describes Jesus so beautifully.  Verses 2-5 are breathtaking!

You are the most handsome of all.  Gracious words stream from your lips. God himself has blessed you forever.  Put on your sword, O mighty warrior!  You are so glorious, so majestic!  In your majesty, ride out to victory, defending truth, humility, and justice.  Go forth to perform awe-inspiring deeds!  Your arrows are sharp, piercing your enemies’ hearts. The nations fall beneath your feet.

If you are concerned about what’s happening in our nation and world, reading the above passage will remind you Who is in charge!  Please remember that God is working behind the scenes to set up a Heavenly Kingdom that will not be destroyed.  If you’re in Christ, you’re part of that Kingdom – no fear permitted!

Let me Incourage you today.  Yes, the world looks a little scary.  Yes, there are 100 different opinions regarding how things will play out.  But there is nothing you can do about any of that (except stay in prayer).  What you can do is focus on the Father – His heart, His purpose, His will.  He is at work.  Ask Him to show you what He’s doing so you can align with that.  I promise it will bring you peace no matter what you see with your eyes or hear with your ears.
