Numbers 21:1-22:20 / Luke 1:26-56 / Psalm 57 / Proverbs 11:9-11
Luke 1:38 Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.”
How many of us would be willing to respond this way if God sent an Angel to tell us our life was going to be greatly altered? He didn’t ask Mary whether or not she wanted this life intervention; He simply saw her willing heart, chose her and sent His messenger.
Mary’s “yes” was going to bring shame on her and her family, but she still consented. She knew the risks; she knew the consequences. She obeyed.
Would you have done the same? I have to wonder, would I?
God has asked many things of me over the past 58 years. Sometimes I’ve said “yes” and sometimes I’ve ignored what I heard because I didn’t think I could do what He was asking. Have I ever said a flat “no”? I don’t remember, but I probably have.
And that’s sad because if God is asking, it’s part of His perfect plan. The course of travel will be both difficult and fun, and the outcome will probably be unexpected, but I’ll know I’m walking the path He designed for me. I think there’s no safer place to walk.
What is God asking of you today? Will you say “yes”? I promise it’s the best “yes” you’ll ever utter!
