Read the Bible in One Year: Day 89 – A God Encounter

Deuteronomy 13-15 / Luke 8:40-9:6 / Psalm 71 / Proverbs 12:5-7

But Jesus said, “Someone deliberately touched me, for I felt healing power go out from me.”  (Luke 8:46)

Let me proclaim Your power to this new generation, Your mighty miracles to all who come after me. (Psalm 71:18b)

I was born in 1962, saved in 1968 at age 5, baptized in water at age 7 and baptized in the Holy Spirit for the first time at age 11.  I’ve shared some of my experiences with the presence of God. I’ve experienced and witnessed both God’s presence and His power.

In the 70’s there was the Jesus Movement, where the “hippies” were being saved, delivered from drugs and filled with God.  I was witness to what was a chaotically beautiful time in history.  As I’ve aged, I’ve watched as the church became more sedate, and I’ve longed for my children to experience the same supernatural power I have.

I’ve not just longed for this; I’ve prayed and believed God for it.  And I believe we are seeing the edges of a reformation in the Church right now.  I won’t share the story of another, but someone very close to me is experiencing some incredible God words, breakthroughs and provision.  This is something I’ve waited to see and it’s happening!  The power of God is moving.

I don’t seek God’s power just for the sake of power; I seek it because people’s lives are eternally changed in the wake of His coming.  I can’t imagine Heaven without those who are most important to me – my family.  And since there’s nothing I can do to change anyone, I must pray and wait for God to grab their attention:  that’s exactly what He’s doing!  There is no excitement that compares with witnessing a life changed by the supernatural power of God!

Have you ever prayed for someone and been aware that the power of God was present to influence their situation?  I don’t know what Jesus felt as the woman touched Him and received healing for her bleeding, but I know God’s power is not just a concept – it is a real flow of divine energy.

I’ve shared my stories with anyone who will listen because if I don’t share what I’ve experienced, how will those I love to realize what’s available to them?  They will hopefully have their own experiences, but I believe my sharing gives them courage and faith to believe God for big things, and I want big things for those I love!

I want my family and friends to receive of that life changing power God gives.  I want them to encounter Him in His love, mercy, grace and forgiveness.  Why?  Because when we experience the power of God, we are never the same; we are being changed into His image – becoming more like Him.  Isn’t that the goal of being a Jesus follower?  To be like Him?

Today, if you have not experienced His power, just ask.  He will hear and answer because He desires to impact your life as the two of you experience relationship.  May you be blessed with a God-encounter today!
